The Reverend Dr. James Haner was born in Hiawatha, Kansas. He graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri in 1966 and was ordained into the Pastoral ministry of the LCMS.
Pastor Haner began his ministry as the organizing Pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton, Texas, where he served from 1966-1976. It was also during this time that he established a preaching station in Lewisville, Texas.
In 1979 he began serving as Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He served in this capacity for 25 years and was active in numerous community events. In 1989, Pastor Haner received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Princeton Theological Seminary.
Pastor Haner married Jane in 1965. The couple has two adult children: Jennifer (Mrs. Dan) Knepper of Flower Mound, Texas and Jonathan Haner of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The couple also has two grandsons. Pastor Haner said, “Here in Whitney, I’ll have the time to be much more personal and really get to know everyone.” We thank the Lord for the ministry of Pastor Haner.
